On the start of the game, the Farmville farm is 12 x 12 space (plus a bit on the edges).
You have to make money (by planting crops, raising trees, rearing animals etc)

The Japanese Barn is a 20 slot storage building. It is similar in concept to the horse stable etc. You can build it yourself, but it can be done only with the help of your friends. (Technically you can do it without friends if you want to buy the items using FV cash, but that's no fun)
